Let There Be Lights

Christmas, Christmas time is here. Time for toys and time for… CHRISTMAS LIGHTS!

As you may (or may not, and by “may not” I really mean “probably not”) remember from an old post I talked about how I was planning to sync my Christmas lights to music this year using my Raspberry Pi. Well, here are the results. It could use a little tweaking, but overall I’m happy with the results for a first go. As with my Halloween graveyard, it’ll probably be bigger and better next year.

My apologies for any poor sound quality in videos (and cars starting/driving by while I was recording).

First up is lights synced to the song “Let It Snow.”

I currently have 12 songs that my lights “dance” to as part of the display. The following video is not one of those songs. It was only run and recorded as a test of the lights.

Here the lights are getting their groove on to the Star Wars theme.
