I know this might seem like an odd question, but humor me, if you will. I have a question and I want to know your answer.
What was your favorite cartoon as a child (assuming you watched cartoons), and why?
There were a lot of cartoons I enjoyed when I was younger, but my favorite by far was the roadrunner cartoons. You know the ones. The cartoons where Wile E. Coyote would always order some ACME product to help him catch the roadrunner, but it would always end up exploding in his face or sending him off a cliff. Something about that particular cartoon just spoke to me. It wasn’t like the rest. I felt like a kindred spirit of the roadrunner and coyote. Do you know why? Because they, like me, rarely ever spoke.
I remember a few other cartoons where the coyote spoke to the sheepdog while they were waiting to punch the clock and start their day, but I don’t remember him ever speaking in the roadrunner cartoons. The roadrunner cartoons were all about the visual. Spoken words weren’t important in that world. That was a world in which I truly felt I belonged.
Spoken words were never my friends. We have an uneasy kind of truce between us. I don’t like them and they don’t like me, but we get along just enough to get by.
Sometimes I wish I had a DVD full of roadrunner cartoons that I could just pop in so I could lose myself in a world devoid of the spoken word.
Again, I find myself wondering how someone who dislikes spoken language can ever imagine being a decent writer, but that’s not the issue of the day.
So, what was your favorite cartoon when you were young, and why?

Man, you would think that I would pick something right off. I did like the animaniacs. I liked to watched bugs and the gang when it came on Saturdays. I don’t really have a why though. I didn’t identify with anyone of them, I just liked the cartoons themselves. The entertainment.

Tom and Jerry…honestly I don’t know, it was just a great show on Saturday mornings. I think I watched and enjoyed Voltron too
